Lossing Portal data

Featured Replies

We have a basic PO tracking program. Currently we have just under 4000 entries. One of our accounting personnel noticed that portal info (data) that indicates purchased items and their prices are slowly being removed from the data base. It currently is deleting data from the back and moving forward with new entries. The quirk with this is sometimes it skips some of the old entries in the process. We have paper backup to confirm that the data was originally entered. Any thoughts from anyone would be greatly appreciated. The files are stored on a central independent server with access from a variety of staff.

Thanks in advance,

Hmm...

It's hard to tell without seeing the db.

Start by tracking those records in the Line Items to see if they were actually deleted.

May be their keys were modified enough to not be matching the PO relationship.

If this is the case, you'd investigate on your relationship settings, the scripts and the way user input is done. A massive use of copy/cut/paste could be the main source of bugs of this type.

I've seen ugly old FM solutions where this happened. The keys were built by a "manual" association conducted by the user, moving from files to files and copying/pasting the keys.

If they were deleted, then I'd be worried enough to advise you to call some developer around your place...
