The new FileMaker Pro 7 security model answers requests from IS/IT managers, commercial solution developers, and custom consulting developers alike for robust industry standards based security, coupled with highly granular control. User accounts and encrypted data transmission allow developers to protect intellectual property and provide data confidentiality and integrity.

Live account management, the ability to employ IT designed domain accounts to control access to FileMaker Pro files, and the ability to allow end users to create objects such as scripts, layouts, and value lists without having access to developer created objects, all provide for a far more robust and more easily managed security system than ever before in FileMaker Pro.

The new Privilege Set construction provides easy enforcement and design of role based security policies for smaller offices or larger enterprise workgroups of several hundred users. Developers can provide automated account management by scripted actions or by external authentication to local or global domains in Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, and OS X Server controlled domains.

The new custom Extended Privilege function gives developers the ability with a simple check box to enforce business logic control across multiple Privilege Sets without having to rewrite business logic for each role.
