Is FMP 7 Multilingual? Because in the previous version 6 the web companion did not function properly when instant publishing a layout in a different language with non-Roman characters.

FileMaker Pro 7 Will Only Be Supported In Its Localized Languages

With FileMaker Pro 7 being a fully Unicode aware application we will be able to support data in any language the user's operating system supports. FileMaker Pro 7 uses Unicode technology. We have fully tested and will support Roman and Japanese scripts.

Users should be able to enter and display text in any language supported by the operating system, including languages not supported by FileMaker. For example, a user will should be able to create fields containing data with names in Russian or Greek text if their operating system supports input and display of these languages.

Users will be able to display multiple languages in the same field by selecting Unicode fonts that support all languages to be displayed. For example, a database could have a single address field that contained addresses in Chinese, Korean and Japanese and if support for these languages is installed on their computer, they will be able to view all of the addresses simultaneously.

Although FileMaker Pro 7 is Unicode based, proper indexing and sorting is only supported in the localized languages of FileMaker Pro 7. For example, it is possible that Korean text cannot be sorted or even found in a FileMaker Pro field. It is also possible that you will observe strange behavior with scripts other than Roman or Japanese because FileMaker Pro 7 can not separate words and break lines correctly in those scripts.

Sorting and indexing may work but has not been tested in languages such as Korean, Thai or Traditional or Simplified Chinese.

Thanks Stephen but in my language Greek I dont have any problem with in the name of a field or in the data of a field even in the sorting. My proble in FMP6 was that I couldn't use web companion for instant publishing a layout in my language. Is this OK in the new version?

Just to be clear, there is no Web Companion any more. IWP and CWp (XML, XSLT) are server based now. There is a very limited IWP for client.
