I've installed FMServer 5.5 on Windows 2003, and all I can say is that I'm unable to uninstall it :-)

Uninstaller fails with an Error Code 1723....

I don't know about 5.5... but I just got our server5 up on 2003 and seems ok... but I have only run it for a day now.... we will see. Is 5.5 faster than 5? I have noticed that it is a little slow... any advice?

You have to change the location of the hosted files when you install FM Server. Just change the location of where you want it installed. I don't believe you can change it once you have installed it but someone will probably prove me wrong. smile.gif

Just checking up on this. Did you get the patch from filemaker? They have a patch in the support section. just download it and it will remove it for you. I have included it with this message.

I'm not familiar with FMS 5.5, but on my FMS 3 installation on NT4, I simply put shortcuts with FMS. The FMP files are on another partition. Works okay. I'm looking to upgrade to probably FMS 5.5 on W2K3. Does the same shortcut approach work?

I am not sure if you can use shortcuts or not. Did you create shortcuts to the files and place the shortcuts in the C:/fmserver folder? Or did you create shortcuts to the folders? It may work. I can try it and let you know if it works or not.

I just tried this and it does work. I created a shortcut to a folder that was in a different location and put the shortcut in the Filemaker Server 5.5 folder. I then went into the Administrator database to open the files in the new folder and they were there. So this would be another method to serving up files in a location other than the default one.
