Calculation to See if Field Contains Certain Text

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble finding an answer to this, so maybe you can help.

I've got a field, Bindery, that contains checkboxes for types of bindery work: Cut, Fold, Bind, Drill, etc. I've also got separate fields for Type of Fold, Type of Binding, Type of Drill, etc. If Fold is checked, I want to validate that the user has entered something in Type of Fold.

I've got Type of Fold set up to validate with the following calculation:

If(Bindery = "Folds" and IsEmpty(Type of Folds), 0, 1)

The problem I have is if Bindery has Folds and Binds selected, it won't validate since Bindery doesn't exactly equal "Folds".

How can I have it validate if Bindery CONTAINS "folds", not just equals it exactly?

Version: v6.x

Platform: Mac OS X Jaguar

Use PatterCount(field,"folds") > 0
