can't modify value in field once entered

Once a value is entered into a field then the value in the field can not be changed after the individual clicks / tabs into another field.

sidebar -- these fields happen to be in a portal row. (I know I can do it using a script calling plug-in.. but I have my hands tied on this)

In Define Fields, check the fields options... Make sure the Auto-enter tab has Prohibit modification unchecked.
