Changing font style of multiple records

Featured Replies

Ok...

Within FileMaker I have a number of records whose fields are populated with Data that is ALL CAPS. I need the data to be in Title Case format. Easy fix... right? Sure, jump into Layout and change the format of the fields to be "Title Case."

Viola! All of the fields are displayed in "Title Case."

However, I don't want the fields to just be displayed in "Title Case." I need the fields to actually be populated with "Title Case" data.

For example, if you are accessing the data to be used via AppleScript and you get the value for a particular cell (which in FM is displayed as Title Case) it returns the data in "All Caps." Does anyone know how I can change that from within FM or within AppleScript so that the data is taken in "Title Case?"

FileMaker Version: 7

Platform: Mac OS X Jaguar

have a calc field:

Proper(ORIGINAL_FIELD_HERE)

and use that as your export / reference / etc. field

If you want to change the data permanently, you can make a script with:

Show All Records

Set Field ["MyField", "Proper(MyField"]

When I have this issue, I use the Proper Function with the Replace feature and things are changed almost instantly. Using calculations with the Replace feature can be extremly effective. Caution, if you are not comfortable with a calculation, the try it with a calculation filed first before using it with replace
