April 7, 200421 yr I have a self-join relation and a portal based on that. Within the portal I want a calc field to compare the value of a field in the portal, with the value for the current record (outside the portal). There seems to be no way to get them both at the same time. If I base my calc on the portal's relation, I can get the portal row's field value, but not the current record's field value (it evaluates to the related value). If I base it on the current layout, I can't get the portal row's value. Any ideas? FileMaker Version: Dev 7 Platform: Mac OS X Panther
April 7, 200421 yr See if it can help. There's a script in all navigation buttons, from which a relationship is established. There may be other tricks available. Anyway, by doing so you'd force unstored calcs which wouldn't be a good option if the number of records was high. Too slow. FileMaker Version: 6 Platform: Mac OS 9 Main.fp5.zip
April 7, 200421 yr Author Thanks, but that is an FM5 file. It's only FM7 that is exhibiting the problem. It works perfectly in FM6 and earlier. The new relational model seems to have taken away a valuable "feature."
