krusader Posted June 24, 2001 Posted June 24, 2001 I am trying to get FM to draw line graphs but have been unsuccessful I have tried ChartmakerPro but its very complicated to use and the graphs don't look that great I have used easy FM tricks to make bar graphs (I know there are also pie graph tricks)...are there any simple tricks to make line graphs in FM??? THANKS
LiveOak Posted June 24, 2001 Posted June 24, 2001 Take a look on the FM web site for charting plug-ins. One I found is: http://www.x2max.com/english/products/products.shtml If this doesn't provide graphs of adequate quality, you will probably have to export a text file and use and another application such as Excel or a purpose built charting application. The key here is that if the experts can't produce graphs of adequate quality using FM, it is pretty unlikely that a simple "trick" exists that they have missed! In general, line graphs in FM are much more complex than bar graphs or pie charts. -bd
billholt Posted June 25, 2001 Posted June 25, 2001 Adding to Liveoak's comment: Version 2 of the x2max PI is being beta tested on the Mac side right now; and the developer is discounting the price for people who purchase it now. I'm one of the testers and have been delighted to find that version 2 is a major step up from version 1.5. He should skip the version 2 name to go straight to version 3. Version 2 has more graphics capability than Excel. And, as I do a lot of regressions, it has saved me hundreds of lines of scripting with its built in regression calculations for a range of polynomial forms, exponentials, logs, and others. The general picture handling capabilities - zoom, cropping, multiple independent placements, format and quality management - are a nice little surprises that the developer hardly mentions. Last time I checked, these functions were only implemented for the pict format, but jpeg, gif, et al, will be in the final. Also, if you handle masses of data - or would like to - version 2 has the capability of importing data directly from an external file - bypassing the 64k limitation of global fields. On the Mac side, he has version 13 of the beta available now. I have not been able to crash it in a long time - perhap by calling functions that were not yet in place in version 6 or 8. Bill Holt
