Jarvis Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 The UPS man is supposed to deliver a copy of Filemaker 7 Developer today. I am currently running Filemaker 7 on a MacIntosh G4 OSX Panther. The Filemaker 7 I am running was an upgrade from Filemaker 6. I would like to be able to use my current FM7 on a different computer and network it to the one I will have Developer installed on. How extensively do I have to purge vestiges of FM 6 from the current machine? I am concerned that if I load FM 6 onto a networked computer I will see an error message indicated that too many users are trying to work the same license. Do I need to completely erase FM6 from the first machine? Thanks for any help. Jarvis FileMaker Version: 7 Platform: Mac OS X Panther
stanley Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 Jarvis: I don't believe that you need to remove FMP 6 from the machine at all - I've got multiple versions of FileMaker on my machines, due to the fact that I've got clients using different versions, and I've never had a problem such as the one you're worried about... -Stanley
Doug Leib Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 You should have no problem running multiple versions. I am running both Developer 6 and 7 at the same time. In fact this can be a useful technique when converting or rewriting a database. You can copy and paste many useful elements of complex calculations and scripts while tweaking them as you go.
