I have a simple layout with only a merge field preceeding a regular field. The merge fields' contents are only one line, but the regular fields' content varies from a paragraph to half a page. My problem is that I would like only a single newline between the first entree's field and the next entree's merge field, but instead I am getting inconsistent vertical spacing (possibly due to sliding?). How exactly do I make it so that there is only one new line after each field and before each merge field?

If you have all your fields in the layout sliding up, make sure that you have the bottom of the Layout Part (Body?) touching the bottom of the lowest field. The layout will shrink with the field, and the next record should start right below the newly shortened layout.
