Hi guys... is there anyway create 2 import templates in a file and permanently saving it.

My project has 2 kind of import.. One is importing a csv file from excel and the other is importing back a previous record of filemaker.

Importing back the previous filemaker record is easy and doesn't needs much remapping but after doin so my import order for importing the csv files gets affected as well and i will have to remap the whole import order again. Is there anything i can do to get out of this recursive mapping of import order?

Please help! confused.gifThanks

Create two scripts that have the Import step in them. Each script can "save" one import order.

You would manually perform an import, create an import script, perform another import, and create another import script. If your scripts are already created, perform an import, open the first script, click OK and select Replace for the import order, perform the second import, open the second script, click OK and Replace it's import order.

The Restore option will save the order as it was when you opened the script, i.e. original. The Replace option will overwrite the original order and save the order you most recently performed.

"Should i set the restore sort order on or off?"

Try it and see what happens!

That's a nice happy-go-lucky response. Maybe I'll be less specific in my future answers, too. wink.gif

Maybe I need a break or something, but surely PrissyPan could have taken their chances and *experimented* with the restore setting themselves in less time than it took to post the question.

They would have learned more in the process too.

An alternative answer could have been "yes" but I though that could have been viewed as being abrupt.

Hey, you've got nearly three times the number of my posts. I won't critique you on your answering skills. But it would be nice to join in the fray sometime.

Maybe a better response would have been "I wonder..."
