This sounds rather difficult (syncing data).

FM Server 7 is supposed to have much better WAN performance, and is scheduled to release this summer. I think you might want to check into it before heading down the syncing path - that sounds like a lot of aggravation to me.

It is also true that FM7 WAN performance is a whole lot better than with 6. You can sign up for the public beta of FM server and test it out for yourself.
