May 9, 200421 yr I have a membership Database in which I a Main File feed by three other files. State is the main file. The three other files are: At Large Tidwater Lifetime in FileMaker5 I do calculations for : Associate normal - AN Associate Teacher - AT Associate Student - AS Associate Vendor - AV Assoc Vendor Employee - AVE Full - F Local Life - LL Life Voting - LV Life Non Voting - LNV all the life categories pay no dues The AVE pay $50 The AV pay $100 The Full $48.00 all the other associate catergories pay 24.00 when I converted the multiple files from FM 5 files on a separate Drive containing FM5 using OS9 to another drive using FM7 and OSX.3.3. The totals don't change when I make changes. They don't even change when I use the files in each of the file instead of using State related file. I've had to change the references from the original drive to the current drive. in each file. and the database relations were broken and I had to repair them. Any suggestions? Also is it possible to use the State file as the file each of the others feed into so that the original infor is actually in the other three files Directly opposite of what FM5 now does on OS9.
May 9, 200421 yr Hi pjonesCET It's almost impossible to answer the question without access to the files. Did you check the conversion log for any errors? Did you covnert each file individually or by folder? You might want to check out MetaDataMagic from www.newmillennium.com for some good tools to help you with all of this. HTH Wim
May 10, 200421 yr Author didn't check converstion logs Did convert entire folder and tried select multiple files and droping on FM7
May 10, 200421 yr Author Just checked th link you provided. Too rich for my blood. That's more than I paid for the upgrade even for the minimum amount of files.
August 31, 200421 yr I'm having problems, too. I keep getting error #408 in the log. Cannot find a definition for that. Steps I've taken: 1) cloned my file then deleted ALL scripts -- conversion didn't work 2) tried to convert the document to FP6 then on to FP7-- wouldn't convert to 6 much less 7 3) tried removing all data in the files....just bare bones of document -- conversion wouldn't work Only thing left is to remove all my formulas -- can't/won't do that. Any help would be appreciated.
September 1, 200421 yr Error 408 is "invalid data type". I would guess one of your field definitions is corrupt. Does the log tell you which field? If so, you could recreate it or just delete that field. If you provide the log, we could all take a look at it.
September 1, 200421 yr This is what is on the log: 8/30/2004 8:38:58 AM, (save)SS ALLOC LAPA REPORT AUG 2004 Old Old.fp7, 0, Conversion started. 8/30/2004 8:38:58 AM, (save)SS ALLOC LAPA REPORT AUG 2004 Old Old.fp7, 0, Version: Pro 5.0 - 6.0. 8/30/2004 8:38:59 AM, (save)SS ALLOC LAPA REPORT AUG 2004 Old Old.fp7, 0, 79 file references were converted. 8/30/2004 8:38:59 AM, (save)SS ALLOC LAPA REPORT AUG 2004 Old Old.fp7, 408, Unknown Error: . I've tried to convert many times.....this is just one of the logs. I am horrified that one of the definitions may be corrupt.....I have hundreds of formulas in the definitions file -- and they work great on v6!!! Thanks for any help.
September 1, 200421 yr That log isn't terribly helpful. Would you be willing to attach or email me a clone of the database so I could try it?
September 2, 200421 yr I sent you a private message with my address - I don't want the web-searching robots to get it...
