I lost electricity. I had worked 11 hours straight on the design and was so absorbed that I forgot to back up. crazy.gif

Now, when opening the file, I get "FileMaker cannot share file because another User is already sharing files using FileMaker Pro on this computer." It works fine in every other regard, that I can tell. But I can't have it doing this all the time!

I have dragged a copy of the file aside and have also 'Save A Copy As.' But each time I open it, I get the same message. Rebooting again hasn't helped either. This system isn't networked.

Before I start messing with it (because sometimes that can compound a problem), I want your advice. Please help me save my baby!

Andy Gaunt just looked at the file and it opens fine for him on WinXP. I dumped temps, reinstalled Dev7 and rebooted (cold). Other FM7 files open fine. This one still produces the message, right before the file loads.

I have FMPro5.5, FMPro6, Dev6 and Server 5.5 also installed. Dev6 was also open at the time the power went down but I hadn't opened Dev6 at all. When I try, it opens fine. I tried opening another FM7 file and running Debut Scripts. Then opened file. Same thing - before debug even begins.

Sharing > FileMaker Network Settings were ON and NO USERS. Tried changing that to ALL USERS, then even Network = Off. Nada

Running Recover won't help because the file itself is fine (or is it?). Where in the world could something be hanging on? Through my DSL? As you can see, I'm out of ideas and I'll try anything.

Hard lessons (about not remembering to back up) are, well ... hard.
