When in the Color Wheel window (from 'Other Color...') there are a heap of little white boxes, or squares at the bottom of the window. Darned if I can get them to do anything - but I'm sure they must have some use..... like storing color selections, which is what I hoped they might do.

What's their purpose?

thanks

Hi Mike,

Your right, the boxes at the bottom of the color wheel window do store colours. You use the box on the right to make a color and click the 'Add custom color' button. This will put your color selection into one of the white boxes and you can re-use it for multiple objects. However they are cleared when filemaker is closed down. Hope this helps.

thanks Veqtor - that's what I was expecting to see... an 'add custom color' button..... but there isn't one! There's simply no button (or menu) of any kind to use. Simply the colour wheel window, colour wheel, colour panel at the top, with slider at the side - and five choices at the very top of colour 'wheels' (crayons etc..). And of sourse all the little white boxes below. But no buttons. Very puzzling......

Glad i could help. Are you by any chance using a Mac? I looked on a Mac in the office and there was no button on the wheel there either. I'm a Windows user and I just didn't think about the differences, sorry. But it's a good thing you figured it out because when i looked i couln't fathom how i was supposed to add colors either grin.gif

Veqtor - sorry been away.

Yes, I am indeed on a Mac (lucky me!). OSX. You might be interested to discover that the colour squares saved DO NOT clear when closing FMP! They remain forever. Very handy! I'm assuming it's a Mac thing - or maybe OSX.... anyhow it's good.

cheers

.... by the by, your name reminds me of something else:

I read on another post a short while ago that (as we all know) you can't bring a graphic with a transparent background into FMP from Photoshop etc, without a white background being created. The writer suggested that this was being addressed in FMP7. I was mucking around with some vector (hence your name...) graphics in PS and brought it into FMP assuming I'd get the usual backround added, and to my surprise found it came across perfectly! No background. This is seriously good! Whole new design ballgame!

Anyhow just thought I'd pass it on. This is on Mac, OSX, FMP6

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the Photoshop tip, I've been using a really old version of Claris Draw for the PC blush.gif. I did a search today and found that someone also said Freehand also makes transparent graphics.

Yes, lucky you for having a Mac...I''m stuck on a PC, but at least it seems to run FM7 faster than the Mac my boss has cool.gif.

Hmmm - you seem to suggest that the graphics limitation is to do with the graphics programme (PS etc) - I always assumed it was an FMP limitation that wouldn't allow the import of vectors. You're probably right.

One way or another.... now it works!

FM7 - haven't got it yet - shortly to come... interesting about the speed drop on Macs. I'll check it out

cheers
