Oldfogey Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 As well as Win2K, I use OS 9.2. I frequently transfer stuff to my MAC and back again using ZIP drives or (one way only) CD-ROMs. For some reason I've never been able to fathom, my MAC insists on using ";" as the separator in calculations and my PC uses ",". FMP happily converts back and forth as I move files from PC-MAC-PC-MAC. That was until today! I used a USB Memory stick thingy to transfer a file from PC to MAC and back. The ";" have stuck and my PC FMP wants ";" in that file. It regards "," as errors. Other files are OK. Does anyone have any idea where I might set the separators?
Lee Smith Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 I suspect that your Mac is using a NON US version of FM and your PC is using a US version. The Non US versions of FileMaker use the ";" semicolons as the separators for calculations and the US version uses "," commas. HTH Lee
Oldfogey Posted May 14, 2004 Author Posted May 14, 2004 Nice try, Lee. My PC and Mac FMPs came off the one CD. Also, every version of FMP I've ever had has used commas, except for the Mac. Also, the conversions each way have been fine until I used the USB Memory thingy. However, you've given me food for thought. I might see if I've set some funny thing on my Mac.
