Our users have been using my filemaker solution for 3 years without any changes.

Now it's time for a change!

There is now so much stuff going on in the database that I want to re-do the layouts.

I was looking, in particular at the status area.

Now what I would like to change is the rolodex-like section of the status area.

I'm quite prepared to have a few buttons there, controlling the record navigation, but I'd like somehow to replicate the small button that can move users through whole sections of records, the sort of tab just to the right poking out of the rolodex thing.

In its simplest form, I'd like my version to act as a visual indicator as to the current record in a found set.

For example varying the position of the tab, depending on whether the current record is say half-way through the found set, or at the beginning.

I was thinking of having a container, with a different sized image.

I just wondered if anyone had any advice when replicating the status area?

It just seems there is so much wasted space there that I could be using.

Also, having users navigate records through scripts will let me do some very useful things!

Does anyone have any examples of people trying to replicate the status area?

I will probably use the same rolodex images, with a blank one shown if the record is the first/last etc as our users are very much used to that!

What I'd also like to know is how could I replicate the tab on the rolodex thing.

I'd be looking at doing a sort of bar chart affair based on the following...

current record number/current record count * 100

I think that might be the best way to do it but if anyone else has any other suggestions then go for it.

Thanks
