Veqtor Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I hope this isn't a stupid question, but I can't seem to find the answer in previous posts. I am running FileMaker Server 5.5 on an old Mac (OS 8.6) and this morning it crashed. The message said that the FileMaker Server has unexpectedly quit, because of error type 2 and that i had to save my work in another application and restart the computer. I did all that and it's back up now, but i'm just wondering what happened. Is it a low memory error or something because the computer it's running on really is quite old. any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks Veqtor
Keith LaMarre Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Its probably a memory error - make certain that the FM Server is essentially doign nothing else - turn off file sharing, etc. - you might want to run Norton and chack the drive - also, make certain that the RAM for the computer is rated for that machine.
DykstrL Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Error type 2 is a general hardware failure. It could be RAM, Hard disk boot sector failure, CMOS battery dead, motherboard dying... In other words, just about anything inside the box has died and the OS does not know what it is.
