It appears that when using IWP, the option to have a pop-up menu include the "other" option (whereby one can enter something that is not on the list) doesn't work. The line in the menu that has "other" (in FM) is present but blank in the web version, and if you select it, all that happens is that the field data is set to empty. I would expect a pop-up window to appear as in FM.

Using a pop-up list, rather than menu, which in FM allows you to type directly in the field, also doesn't work because on the web it also behaves as a menu.

Is this a known limitation of IWP? does anyone know of a workaround?

I would like to hear some work arounds that people have done for this. I am running into the same problem. I'm new to File Maker so I'm running into a few snags.

I made a database to track our engineering equipment repairs. The database has 2 tables, one is Trouble Tickets and the other is Equipment. I have the field name "Equipment Name" in both tables with a relationship between them. To try to get around the limitation above in IWP, I have a drop down list that points to a value list which gets its data from the Equipment Name field in the Equipment table. I then have an "Other" field that is a text entry box that points to the Equipment Name field.

I can enter data by selecting it from the pop up list and it will then copy to the "other" field. I can also enter text to the "other" field and it will copy to the pop up list and also create a new entry in the Equipment table. It works as I would expect except when I access the database with IWP. In IWP I type the name in and when I get done with the ticket and hit submit, the ticket gets submitted, an entry created in the Equipment table but the ticket's Equipment Name field is blank.

Im new to filemaker and am haveing a similar problem, i am using two tables and want to be able to obtain information from one table into the other using a relationship which can be used as a pop up menu. I have a contacts table and instead of having to type up contact details twice i want to be able to use a pop up which would show values that can be selected and the rest of the contact details automatically appeare.
