There must be a very simple way of doing this i.e. 1 should be 01, 2 should be 02, etc?

These two sequential digits are the last part of a product code created using global fields. The whole code is dependent on the criteria of the product and so cannot be just one long stream of sequential codes.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
