Open last opened database on startup?

How can I Open last opened database on startup?

GaryW,

I'm not sure of the best way (and you haven't specified platform or OS which might make a difference), but since no-one else has answered:

I would try using a "Launcher" file: one that you double-click to launch FileMaker, but which has a minimal interface and a startup script. (By the way, this is a good place to make a "palette" with buttons for your common databases, or even for shortcuts to specific layouts or scripted finds and sorts (etc.) within your common files.) The main thing is, this Launcher database will use script(s) within it to open the other files in your solution(s), and a global Marker field to hold a variable for the last database opened.

Decide on a numbering order for your databases, with most common ones near top of list, just for better efficiency than names...

Meanwhile, each of your other databases needs a startup script (if you really want "the last one opened") or a closing script (if you want the last one that was *open*) which sets the Launcher file's global Marker value to *its own* tag-number in the order (so each file will need to have been given a relationship to Launcher).

Now, the startup script on the Launcher file will need to look something like:

If [gMarker = 1]

Ah, here's a more advanced discussion with further thoughts on this sort of thing:
