Duplicate function duplicates all the field,but I want only duplicate some

fields when they press the duplicate function.Do I have to copy & paste those fields into a new record or is there some other way of doing it.?

First of all, avoid copy and paste and use Set Field. You have a couple of choices. Duplicate the record and clear the field (use Set Field (field, "")) or create a new record and copy the data across. You can use globals as temporary containers for the copy or create a relationship between the two records.
