We have a solution that does evidence tracking for police departments. The program generates a barcode (3of9) based on a calc field. No plugins are used. We use the hhp 3800 usb scanner.

We have been ask to use a wireless scanner with our system.

Any recommendations?

You're looking for something that functions exactly as the hhp 3800? The HHP 3870 or HHP ScanTeam 5770 use the same form factor, but are cordless. They also cost a fair amount above the 3800's cost. I'll assume that they have the same rock-solid design; I'd go for HHP scanners before any other. If your clients can afford it, that's the way to go.

I'm also a big HHP fan, but that 38xx cordless series is so ugly. You'd have to paint it before I would use it, but maybe that's just me. I also don't think it supports USB. You might have a look at Intermec's ScanPlus 1802 Cordless with USB. I don't have any experience with it but know of a company that has used them with success.
