Seems to me you're working on the wrong problem. Why do you have such chronic failures that you need to automate the recover process? This just shouldn't be happening, and there are some common configuration errors that lead to this problem - like having file sharing turned ON, a definite no-no. What do you intend to do with the recovered files? It is generally recommended that recoved files never be used again for production purposes - they should only acts as a data source.

What has recover got to do with any of this? If you want to do automated data extraction from files with applescript, then perhaps you need to learn more about how to do that. And yes, the files need to be open in Filemaker somehow. But there is no need to use the recover process for any of this. Find operations can be scripted either with standard scripting or applescript. Summary values can be generated with standard scripting, export, whatever. What are you really trying to do, can you give an example?
