ddinisco
If you use the insert file script option to actually store the file within FMP in a container field, how do you either open the stored file or copy it out of filemaker? I don't want to store the reference path. I wish to store an actual Word doc. And then I want to either launch the word doc from within filemaker, or be able to copy to the desktop to open it. What am I missing here? Thanks David
Brunk
I have the exact problem. Did you find a fix?
Fenton
There is a new command and script step in 7, Export Field Contents (bottom of Edit menu). There is also the Insert Object step in FileMaker, on Windows only. Not sure if you can double-click an embedded file to open or not.
Newbies 199cm Posted August 3, 2005 Newbies Share Posted August 3, 2005 Hallo, may be you have some advice for this problem. I have my database made for windows and there is a container field, for which is written insert object script. But on Mac I don't have such a function. Any solutions, how to make it works both windows and Mac? Thank you!
Fenton
You can't use Insert Object if you want it to work on both. There is an Insert File command which works for both platforms the same; but it's not quite the same. It requires you to use Export Field Contents to get the data out again. Newbies 199cm Posted August 4, 2005 Newbies Share Posted August 4, 2005 Thanks for your answer! I though all the time, that FileMaker for Mac is more advanced, but I was wrong.
