wplate Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Hello. We are currently using SMTPit on two Mac OS X systems running Filemaker Pro 7. Unfortunately it Crashes Filemaker Pro several times a day. I've contacted the developer several times for a fix, but sadly it ain't happening. I like what SMTPit does when it works, but I need to find a more stable alternative. What is out there? Thanks.
RalphL Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 I have found this company very responsive. Have you not heard from them or they just haven't been able to fix the problem yet?
wplate Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 Overall they have not been responsive. When they do reply they tell me they don't know why it is happening. The last reply, though, was the last straw because it essentially said that I'm the only one having the problem and they have other more pressing problems to fix. I own a software company, I know a thing or two about how it is possible to work with a client to debug a problem. I understand priorities, that's fine. It is just that my priority to reliably send mail from FileMaker means I need to find another source. Are there other options?
Fitch Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 I'm more familiar with SMTPit, but Mailit is an alternative: http://www.dacons.net/fmplugins/mailit/prodinfo/index.html
wplate Posted June 30, 2004 Author Posted June 30, 2004 Thanks Fitch. I bought a couple of licenses, and testing so far has been positive. Tomorrow we'll move it to the production machine to see if it is more stable than SMTPit.
wplate Posted July 1, 2004 Author Posted July 1, 2004 Thank you again, Fitch. mail.it is sweet. After getting it up and running I moved it to the real FileMaker system, and emails were sending like crazy. No crashing.
Fitch Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 That is good to know. FWIW, SMTPit has been great for us, but we haven't tested it with FM7.
