Pek
Hello all.. Stuck again this time with a layout/report have a db careproerties that a layout with a portals relating to housedetails db. This is so a careproperties be given details to what rooms it has , what surfaces etc. set up a portal for each room eg Kitchen # Floor counters apliances Cabinets Notes 1 wood marble oven oak dont clean 2 tile tile microwave oak Livingroom # Floor counters apliances furnishings Notes 1 carpet oak tv silk each type of room has its own fields kitchenfloor, livingroomfloor etc this looks great as a layout cept for the usual problems of printing portals . So have tried creating a report in housedetails that would show all the details in the same style as teh portals but what i end up with is Floor counters apliances Cabinets Notes 1 wood marble oven oak dont clean 1 carpet oak tv silk 2 tile tile microwave oak been playing with subsumaries but getting no where. Do I need a link file between the two db? am very new to fm and databases thanks ric
Pek
doh . think having to write the problem out helped me fixed it. i did create a join file housedetailsline and a new housedetails.. scrapped all the fields and started a fresh with fields for roomtype, floortype ,furnishingstype . That let me have the summaries I wanted . wish me luck off to tackle scripts Ric
Leb i Sol
if u have a portal...then u have already "linked" related them. Try letting FM's "layout wizard" do a report for you LAyout Mode New List/Comlumnar report and group by your logic.... Take care
