Newbies 1FMNewbie Posted July 23, 2004 Newbies Posted July 23, 2004 Maybe because I'm a newbie in FM I'm postting this thread. I've 2 Privileges Sets that are dependent of the location of the users. I have a script that if the user is from the city A I make a search on the field "location" equal to A. But if the user from the city B go to the menu Records-> Show All Records he can view all the records canceling the search I make in the script... I want to permanentely filter the records and not allow to cancel the Find.... Thank u!
Matthew F Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 I agree that it makes little sense to set up scripted find sets if the user can easily overcome this with a "Show All Records" command. If the issue is about restricting access to certain records then you'll want to use File > Access Privelges... to restrict access to certain records. It seems like you should be able to define a city as a group, and then populate this with certain users. You'll need to assign passwords to each user. The users will still be able to execute the "Show All Records" command, but they will be confused when they see a gray window on those records to which they don't have access privileges. You could teach them to always specify the city in their searches to limit the output. Alternatively, you could make this a little easier with a "Find" button which initiates a find and adds the name of the City to the City field: Enter Find Mode [] Set Field ["City", "globalCity"]
