upgrading from FM6 to FM7 - lost data is fields

First time posting, I'm a long time Filemaker Pro user and can't wait to tap the knowledge on this board.

My problem; I have converted from FM6 to FM7 and during the process I have fields that the information has just disappeared, gone. 250 or so records with missing data in different fields. Any ideas on why it happened or how to fix it.

THANKS

Probably corrupted files to begin with and that corruption resulted with that missing data. You could open your original files in FM6 and export all the data as CSV, then import that into the FM7 files.

Corrupted files? hum. It was just weird that it was different for different records. Same field on one record would have the data. The same field on the different record won't. It was like that throughout the file. Importing via .csv worked but hopefully it won't happen again.

Thanks again for the help

This is probably because of the migration issues "calculation results change". Also, if you have "do not compute this calculation is all referenced fields are empty" checked, the results change in FMP7. Pre-FMP7, certain characters are ignored in a field and considered empty, most notably whitespace characters like space and tab. So if you have whitespace characters in the referenced fields, the calc result will return blank in FMP7. Read the Migration doc.
