dayhox Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Just got off the phone with FM support, and the Xserve RAID I used to host my FMS 5.5 Server can no longer be used with my current set up of FMS 7. WTF! I cannot move my hosted DBs outside of the Library/FMS 7/Data folder, can't use aliases nor symbloic links. So now I've got a $5000 paper weight, super! Hopefully FMSA 7 will fix this oversight, anyone heard of anything to that effect? d
dayhox Posted August 11, 2004 Author Posted August 11, 2004 UPDATE: I have been successful in moving my DBs and their respected backups to the RAID! Reinstalled everything OS, FMS and added location in configuration record for RAID access. So far so good. d
Newbies quark Posted August 26, 2004 Newbies Posted August 26, 2004 Hi dayhox, I'm interested in what the missing link was to get it working. Resinstalling the OS is not an option for my environment, reinstalling FMS is an option though. I'm not sure I understand what you meant by added location in configuration record for RAID access - can you give me some detail on that? Thanks, OK
dayhox Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 Quark, I have since actually moved my live DBs off of the RAID and only keep the scheduled backups on it. Just a maintenance issue. I guess the missing link is: In the FileMaker Server Admin.app-->Configure page-->Default Folders tab. I was trying to add my RAID using the more proper file path filemac:/Volumes/myRAID/MyDBS/etc but what eventually worked was filemac:/myRaid/FileMaker Server 7/Data/Databases & filemac:/myRaid/FileMaker Server 7/Data/Backups I have only recently found that my reinstalling wasn't necessary, as the problems I was experiencing were due to my Boss maxing out the Cache settings under the Databases tab. So basically no reinstalls should be necessary. Hope this helps/clears it up, d
