I'm fairly new to FM, so please be patient.

Is there any way to stipulate a value list based on contents of another field?

I have the following:

Field- Regions

Field- Stores

Each region has different 'stores' associated with it. If I creat a value list for field "stores" it will contain hundreds of entry's and will be difficult for user to find/select appropriate "store".

Since each region only has about 15-20 stores associated with it, I would like to have different value lists of "stores" for different "regions". Question is whether there is some way to display appropriate value list based on contents of field-"regions".

Example- If I choose region "west" I want to see one value list for "stores", but a different list if I choose region "east".

Hope this makes sense. Any way of accomplishing this? Better way?

Thanks.

If you set your database up so that you have two tables, "Region" and "Store", and you relate them to each other (so each store record will have a "RegionID" field that links it to the correct region), then you can create a value list based on "Store" and choose to restrict it by region. Just go to File -> Define -> Value lists, choose new, pick Define values based on field, then click "Specify Field" and click the bottom left "Limit values based on..." (This is assuming you're running off a Mac, though I'm sure it's similar on windows.) That should get you started.
