Newbies BruceJackson Posted August 11, 2004 Newbies Posted August 11, 2004 I'm new to filemaker and trying to get a handle on it. When inserting a digital photo into a record, as a reference, a thumbnail is automatically generated and displays in the forms and list. I'd like to know where this thumbnail comes from. Is the thumbnail embedded in the .jpg file or is filemaker generating it when the image is imported? Further, if the original .jpg file is deleted or moved, the thumbnail persists in the database, leading me to assume it is stored in the database. I can't find any properties of the displayed thumbnail to determine it's size in pixels, or file size in Kb. I want my database to be efficient, so I need to control the thumbnails and know what I'm dealing with. (I think I'd prefer to generate my own thumbs into a subfolder using Photoshop and then import the whole lot including filenames and paths into different fields in a one step process). Another related question. I can't see any built in commands for importing the EXIF info from the photos. Any references to this are appreciated too.
