I just inherited a Mac OSX server which is running FMP Server 5.5. I know it is running because the files are located on the machine and I can access the files remotely at the computer's IP.

However, while on the server itself, I cannot tell that the app is running. The FMP config screen does not appear in the Dock. Moreover, when I launch the FMP config, it appears with the file diagram appearing "down" and the button says "Start Server".

Is it set up as a service? Is that possible with a Mac? Perhaps this is an elementary question. Could someone point me towards an article or give me a quick pointer or two on getting control of the app.

There is only one administrative account on the server.

Thanks in advance.

FMServer 5.5 is a service on OSX. The Config program allows you to start and stop the service as well as configure backups. I imagine the manual is available on filemaker.com.
