7 crash: any typing in RelValList Radio/Check

Reproducibly reliable, at least on Panther (10.3) and FM7.0v2: any letter-keystroke in my radio button related-value-list field causes FM to crash (unexpected quit).

Background: I'm experimenting with the best kind of quick-select from a related list. I had been using pop-ups because of their easy arrow-or-type navigation, compared to portal rows with buttons, but pop-ups always max out at a dozen items or something like that before scrolling, and you can't see the list until you tab into the field. So, I liked radio button fields because they can show values in my choice of fonts, displaying as many values as exist if the field is made "tall" enough. It was nice: tab out of my global key field and there's the whole value list for instant scanning!

Naturally, I wondered whether I could type-in to the radio-button value I want, rather than mousing. Alas, any keystroke brings the whole thing down!

I'll see whether I can reproduce the problem in a clean dummy file... Aha, I can, with this clarification: it's exactly when the value-list includes only RELATED values. And: the same exact behaviors seem to happen when field is check-box formatted. (That is, if value-list involves "only related values", then a keystroke in the field will crash FM7.)

Even if the value list doesn't employ a relation, keystroke-response in a Check Box or Radio Button field is irregular: sometimes it makes the tentative radio-button or tentative box outline "jump" to the right value, sometimes it does not... It seems to depend on whether there is a value already in the field, and which letter it is that one tries to use to navigate the tentative value.

(Is there someplace I should have checked before posting to see whether FileMaker already knows about this?)

Bug confirmed. OS 10.3.2, FM7.0v2. Guess this means you'll have to disable your users' keyboards. wink.gif
