unique id

Hello,

Newbie - how would I go about adding a unique id or number to an existing database of names and addresses? I think I need this in order to finally make a field to check for duplicates etc.

Hi mayfast,

Welcome to the Forum.

This topic comes up from time to time. You can use the Replace function to accomplish what you want. Make sure you have all of the record in the found set, and that they are not sorted. Then go to the Menu >> Records >> Replace. You will see the serial number box. Enter the number you wish to start with, and hit Replace.
