Munchie Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Haven't seen this before. I have a few databases that contain thousands of records each, that relate to a main "Contacts" database via 1 to Many relationship. When I look at the records in a portal on the Contacts database, I see all the records I expect, no issues. When I look in the database directly, there is only 1 Record! The file size is correct. And I can do a recover and all the records appear in the actual database again. Has anyone seen this kind of thing before? The files are hosted on FM Server 5.5. I know what to do to fix the databases now, how do I prevent this from happening? Thanks!!
mediarare Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 have you tried showing all records in the file yet? perhaps you have a find inplace that's hiding the other records.
Munchie Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 Yeah, I'm sure that it was a database error. When I looked at the file, it showed 1 record in the entire database. Not in a find. I'm pretty sure the DB got corrupted. It happend to a few of the files we were using. I'm not sure yet what caused it to happen suddenly. <shrug> Thanks
Lee Smith Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 Hi Munchie, I'm not familiar with Server, and there is always the chance that the files could be corrupted, but it doesn't sound that way to me. If this was a single user environment, I would guess that you are using a Go To Related Record (GTRR), and that the script is set to show Only the RR. Lee
Munchie Posted September 14, 2004 Author Posted September 14, 2004 Hey Lee, thanks for the response. I don't think it is related to that. I'm having another issue that I posted in another area about a printing issue that has been happening during the same time I believe the database corruption happened. http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showthreaded.php?Number=119032 I recovered the DB's, and it hasn't happened again. I'm asking this, because I Haven't figured out how to prevent it. I've attached an image that shows the scroll bar that is causing the issue. I'm thinking this issue crashes the server, and corrupts the database. When doing this printing loop, I use ProPrint Mega to change printers. Print a letter, change to envelope printer, print envelope, change back, and goto next client. Any help you can provide on this error would save me some Tums!
