Susan27 Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 I made a database for a client using Filemaker 5.5 and it is now hosted on their Filemaker 5 server. I am no longer on contract with them, but am going to be making small additions to the database (i.e. new reports) I would like to buy a copy of FileMaker so that I can work from home. What version would be able to open the files from the server? And is it still available? Susan Douglas
Susan27 Posted September 8, 2004 Author Posted September 8, 2004 After a bit more reading: Is it true that you cannot open 5.5 files from a FileMaker 5 server using FileMaker 7? You can only open FileMaker 7 hosted files with FileMaker 8? Susan
-Queue- Posted September 8, 2004 Posted September 8, 2004 There is no FileMaker 8 yet, at least not a released version. 5.5 and 7 are completely different animals and cannot use each other's Server to host files.
Susan27 Posted September 9, 2004 Author Posted September 9, 2004 Thanks! The FileMaker 8 was a typo -- it was supposed to read FileMaker 7 Can I use FileMaker 6 to open-edit FileMaker 5.5 files on a 5.5 server? Susan
