September 8, 200421 yr I made a database for a client using Filemaker 5.5 and it is now hosted on their Filemaker 5 server. I am no longer on contract with them, but am going to be making small additions to the database (i.e. new reports) I would like to buy a copy of FileMaker so that I can work from home. What version would be able to open the files from the server? And is it still available? Susan Douglas
September 8, 200421 yr Author After a bit more reading: Is it true that you cannot open 5.5 files from a FileMaker 5 server using FileMaker 7? You can only open FileMaker 7 hosted files with FileMaker 8? Susan
September 8, 200421 yr There is no FileMaker 8 yet, at least not a released version. 5.5 and 7 are completely different animals and cannot use each other's Server to host files.
September 9, 200421 yr Author Thanks! The FileMaker 8 was a typo -- it was supposed to read FileMaker 7 Can I use FileMaker 6 to open-edit FileMaker 5.5 files on a 5.5 server? Susan
