September 16, 200421 yr Hi, I'm new here and new to FM7. I have been using 5.5 for years now. Anyway, I've been asked to design a DB using FM7. I have a few portals that contain numerous fields. To make it easier to read I turn on the Alternate background fill in the portal setup. It looks just fine until I use the scroll bar. When I start scrolling, the portal field boxes are no longer transparent. That gives me ugly white boxes on top of the background fill color. I'm sure to get complaints. Is this a known bug? I would like to be able to scroll without the portal fields reverting to a white background. Can it be done? Thanks for the help, Tom
September 17, 200421 yr Author Is my question unclear or doesn't anyone know an answer? Surely, someone has run into this. Tom
September 28, 200421 yr I think your problem can be fixed if you just look at the layout in layout mode, then right click on the layout and select layout setup and de-select the show layout frames when record is active. That should fix it.
September 28, 200421 yr Author FMFan, You were right! That does cure the problem of the background disappearing. Now, there are lines running through the portal values as I scroll. It's only certain records. They have a horizontal line through the entire portal. This looks like a bug to me. Do you notice this too? Thanks for the reply. It really helped.
October 1, 200421 yr I am using a portal and I have a lot of data. The portal has a scroll bar. I can scroll through the records, however when I print, I can't seem to print all of the records. It just seems to print the first page of records. Anyone know how to fix this?
October 1, 200421 yr Don't know why this ended up in this thread. The answer is to print from the related file. It is generally a good idea not to print portals. They are designed to used in the user interface.
October 1, 200421 yr From the record you want to print the related records, you need a script to Go to Related Record [show only related; yourrelationship; using layout "your print layout"] Sort [Restore; No dialog] -- if you want to sort them Print Setup [No dialog] <- specify your setup Enter Preview Mode -- if your layout has subsummary parts Print [Restore] "your print layout" will be a new layout based on the related table containing the individual records. You can put information from the parent record on the layout by specifying the Table Occurrence and then the related field.
October 14, 200421 yr Back to your original problem (portal not refreshing properly) - I would be interested to know if you found a solution, as I am having the same difficulty. The only solution I can come up with, is to duplicate the layout, use up/down buttons instead of a scroll bar and go to a layout showing portal rows 11-20 (for instance). Does version 3 solve the problem (anybody download it yet ?)
