Heathbo Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Is there a way to reverse the FieldBounds fuction where instead of the computer telling me where a field is, I can type in the numbers and the field will change to the postion and size of the numbers I just put in?
cjaeger Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 If it's for printing, yes, absolutely. If you use sliding, fields will reduce to their minimum size during Preview and Printing. Just make them big enough for the largest number, they will shrink automagically when sliding is defined in Layout mode. This was one of the reasons people switched to FileMaker in the old days. --> FileMaker help.
bruceR Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Whether for printing or not the answer is still no. You cannot dynamically reposition fields by entering data into a field description or calculation. However, it may be that you have not discovered the object size palette. While in layout mode, select menu View:Object size. This allows you to position fields accurately in layout mode, and perhaps this was all you were really looking for.
