Importing data to multiple tables

Featured Replies

very new to filemaker, I have inherited an old FM5 database and have created a new database on FM7 I wanted to match the existing data in the old db to the new one but i can work out how to change the target field. At present i can only match fields in the first table of the new database not any other tables...how do i do this?

The Import dialog in FM7 is confusing, because it only allows you to pick the source table, not the target table

It appears that the Target table is determined by the layout you are on. Try making a default layout for each table, then switch to that layout.

From FM7 "Help":

"If the target file contains multiple tables, use the Layout pop-up menu in the status area to display a layout that shows records from the table you want to import data into"

PS

They say that FM7 "is still as friendly as a cocker spaniel". I don't agree, for reasons like this.
