Restore the value in a calculated field

I'm having trouble with an FMP6 database. The machine hosting the file crashed. When we opend the database, FMP complained that it was inconsistent, and made some repairs. The problem is that the value of a calculated field is empty, and we'd like to re-enter the value.

We use the database to track document workflow. The field in question is the document number, which is generated when a new record is created. Can anyone help with this?

Don't use a database once it crashes. Import its data into a backup of the file.
