Kent Searight Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 I've created a Number field called Record_Number that's an auto-enter calculation, [Get (RecordNumber)]. As I create new records it jives perfectly with the Record Number shown in the Status Bar area, as it should. The problem is that if I delete a record, let's say record #1 out of 5 records-found, the Record_Number field won't update to jive with the Record Number shown in the Status Bar, even after a new Found Set is created. How can I make this field Record_Number always reflect the number shown in the Status Bar? Thanks!
-Queue- Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Make it an unstored calculation, not an auto-enter one. Get calculations must be unstored in order to update correctly.
Kent Searight Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 I tried that already...doesn't make any difference. Again, using the example of 5 records in a found set, if I delete Record #1 I end up with records #2 thru #5 in a found set of 4. Also, if I create a new record while the field Record_Number is out of sync w/the Status Bar Record Number, that record is assigned #5, leaving me with TWO #5's in my found set. I'm baffled...storage options are all OFF, have been all the time regardless of whether is calculation or auto-enter number field.
-Queue- Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Yes, but is the calculation unstored? You have to select the 'Do not store calculation results' in the Storage Options.
Kent Searight Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 Wow, thanks a million! I've been going round and round on this for, well, let's just say more than a few hours. I don't think I'd ever paid much attention to that checkbox before now. I wonder how many times I've made the same error in scripting in the past??? Hope I can help you out in turn, someday!
