Portal configuration

I am building a simple database that has 2 main layouts, the first is a control panel where you would enter data and the second layout is the list view showing all the data entries. My problem is that i would like to make a portal on a section of the Main layout where data is entered and have a portal that shows the list view in a portal window, so i don't have to switch between my main entry page and list view so all can be displayed on one page, that's the goal!! Is it even possible to use a portal in this manner? Someone please help!

I am using filemaker 6 running on os x panther

Hi,

Yes it is, but requires a bit of setting to prevent Portal Locking in a Multi-User scenario, with versions < FM7.

Formerly called Single Interface, make a search here on the forums.

The main advantage is that you can have a nice "bordered" interface vs List Mode, even with buttons on the Right side, a la Web flavour.

The Main caveat remains Multi-User scenarios.

Thanks for responding ;-)

If possible could you be more specific on how to execute this in filemaker 6 showing all the fields in my list view, so that i could search using my data entry page and the portal would show all the instances of my search.
