jvoldal Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 I developed a solution and then turned it over to my IT guy to serve it over our network (I am not a "computer guy"). Our IT guy hasn't worked with FM before, but we seem to have gotten it up there and it seems to be working as is should. However, I am unable to copy the solution. I had hoped to be able to copy it locally so I could take it home with me, make my modifications, and then overwrite the version residing on the server. There is no "save a copy as" function available on the menu and if I try and drag the files to my desktop I get the following: Error Copying File or Folder. Cannot copy Filename: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. Any thoughts? Also, IT guy says that the solution is hanging up his backup utility. Thanks for any help, john
transpower Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 It's best to run FileMaker Server on a separate computer. FM Server has its own backup options. Never backup a live, hosted database; only backup the file after closing. You could then backup or copy that file to your computer; make changes; then copy it back to the server database folder; then open.
