Newbies radical Posted October 13, 2004 Newbies Posted October 13, 2004 when exporting using xml in single user mode I set the xsl in the same folder as the FM files, but when the files are hosted where does Filemaker on the client look for the xsl file? I could find no documentation anywhere on Filemakers site, manual or help. I did find someone that wrote, in OS X Filemaker would look in the Users/user/Documents folder. But FM does not find the xsl file. Any ideas for OS X, OS 8/9 and Windows? (FM 6)
QuinTech Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Hi radical, you will need to install the xsl in a location accessible through Windows or Mac file sharing. FMS unfortunately cannot "host" xsl files in the same way that it hosts FM databases. I am told that it is more reliable, for some reason, to use an xslt at an http site, so if you have that available, that might be easiest. It also saves you the trouble of having to install the xsl on each user's computer or create a new share location. HTH, Jerry
cjaeger Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 http location is most reliable. However, this is not an option if you are dynamically generated xsl files. otherwise export the xsl file first (when opening the filemaker solution) , then export the file itself. FileMaker uses the relative path to the export file, so if you are exporting to a user-specified folder, make sure both files are in it.
bruceR Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Also note that there are tools like Smile that will let you do the XSL transformation directly in memory without a file reference.
