Newbies sndgeek Posted October 14, 2004 Newbies Posted October 14, 2004 Hi Everyone, Been reading through the forum and can't seem to find just what I need to answer this question...so here goes. Some quick background -- I'm a music editor by trade, and part of my job is typing up notes for the composer to use when he is working on a show. The "spotting notes" that I generate are our bible for that show: I have length, start times, cue names and numbers. Each cue has a value assigned to it (read: value list) which denotes it as a certain type of cue, for instance a main title theme or an end credit. I created a value list with those values listed in it, in the form of a pulldown menu for each cue/record. There are six different types of cues available. What I'm trying to do is to calculate the total length of each type of cue in the grand summary. This lets the composer know just how many minutes of music he needs to compose for the show. What I can't seem to figure out is how to get the calculation field to differentiate between the values in the list. If anyone is willing to take the time to help solve this riddle I'd be much obliged.
transpower Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 Have a show file, a cue file, and a join file (show-cue). Have a summary length field for the join file. Put this field on the show file layout.
