take this example for instance

http://www.foobar.com/image.jpg

Right("http://www.footbar.com/image.jpg"; 4) would return .jpg. Can I get it to return http://www.footbar.com/image instead? Is there a similar function available?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the opposite of right is... left.

I think what's tripping you up is finding the length of the text to the left of ".jpg." For that we have a handy function called... Length!

Here's the Left function:

Left (text, number)

If we want a field, "URL" except the last four characters,

that would be its length minus 4.

So our function would be:

Left(URL, Length(URL) - 4)
