Can FMPro manage e-mail lists?

I have just started working at a small school in Greece that has a rudimentary FMPro database that they hope to use for managing admissions. I know nothing about FMPro, but I have managed to get it to accept email templates, send to users in "found group", and a couple of other things, but what I need is to be able to bring up a list of pending students, click to include or exclude them from a group mailing, and then do a mail merge to send a personalized template letter to each one. Is this possible without an add-on program?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP! I live on a very small island and there's not much FM expertise around!

Yes. You could select the records based on a status field (e.g., "pending"). You could construct a layout with merge fields. You would then print this layout for the found set of pending students.

Thanks for the reply. I realized that one of my sentences was unclear---I want to send a personalized E-MAIL with merge information from a template, not create printable letters. With that clarification, is this possible?

Thanks.

Use the Send Mail script step, instead of printing.

With emails increasingly becoming a marketing tool I want to have them properly organized into Filemaker, which is a pretty straightforward thing to do
