Newbies TAW Posted November 10, 2004 Newbies Posted November 10, 2004 Hi, I have a client that has a Dual 1ghz Mac OS X server with 768mb ram. It is running Mac OS X server v 10.2.8 and only the Apple file service is runnig with 4 users connecting and light file transfers. We just loaded FM Server for a newly devloped database and performance is slow at best, they were on 10mb ethernet and I upraded them to 100mb with a slight imporovement. I am quessing that the server needs more ram but my filemaker developer thinks maybe Mac OS X Server version 10.2.8 that is getting in the way and Panther server will solve it (he actually recommended Panther client and turning filesharing on but I don't want to go that route). Can anyone lend a suggesion? Thanks
Wim Decorte Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 There are two bottlenecks: - hard disk speed - the NIC Turn off AFS and test again. See if AFS eats up a sizeable part of those two resources...
